Attention Everton Parents!
Summer school is being offered at Ashgrove for Everton students this year. If your student needs to attend summer school for credit recovery, Mr. Stringer will be calling you this week to inform you.
Your student should have also been sent home with a sign-up form last week with summer school information. You are still welcome to submit that hard copy. However, the link below acts as a digital submission that goes directly to Ashgrove and would be the most convenient way to submit your summer school application. If you submit digitally through Ashgrove, please inform Mr. Stringer that you signed up so he can make sure students receive appropriate credit for their efforts.
Additionally, a Health course is available during summer school, which would be a valuable opportunity to get ahead on state-required curriculum.
If you have any other questions about summer school, please contact Mr. Stringer at bstringer@evertonschools.org.

Everton High School freshman Trace Renfrow earned 28th place at the 48th International Bridge Building Contest, held Saturday, May 9 at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Competing against top students from across the country and beyond.
The 2026 competition was conducted in a modified format, with bridges submitted by mail and testing viewed virtually via Zoom. Renfrow qualified for the international event by placing 2nd at the Southwest Missouri Regional Contest earlier this spring.
The competition challenges individual students to design and construct highly efficient model bridges using strict material and design specifications. Bridges are tested for strength relative to their weight and must be engineered to withstand multiple loading points, reflecting real-world engineering principles. Renfrow achieved a bridge efficiency
ratio of 987. This means his bridge supported 987 times its own weight before failure.
“Trace’s performance is something our entire school can be proud of,” said Cheryl Ficken, Everton Science Teacher. “He dedicated many hours outside of school to researching, designing, and constructing his bridge including prototypes to test out ideas before his final design. Trace has a natural aptitude for engineering that is evident in his work."
We want to congratulate Renfrow on his accomplishment and look forward to his continued success.
