QUICK LOOK AT IMPORTANT 2011-2012 INFORMATION

Everton School will not be in session on February 20 as planned.  The February 13 snow day will be made up on April 6th.

 

ATTENTION:  The Everton R-III School District board meeting will be held 7pm on Tuesday,  21.

October:  OTC Counselor's Luncheon (Date TBA, 11-2:30pm)

November: TBA dates: Freshmen class, status check, Junior class Post HS Plan

February:  TBA dates: Senior class applications & scholarships, Sophomores and  Juniors class OTC Applications, Freshmen class status check 

March:  TBA dates: Freshmen-Senior classes status check

April-TBA dates: TBA dates: Freshmen-Senior classes status check

May-Don't forget Graduation: May 11

        5th and 8th grade transitions (TBA)

        Early registration 9th through 11th grades(TBA)

Keep in mind: ACT Test dates and reistration deadlines are posted outside the counselor's office.

College representatives will be visiting our school throughout the year.  Mrs. Corbitt will make every attempt to have them come during HS lunch.  When college representatives visit during regular class hours, she will notify students through announcements and post these visits on the board outside the counselor's office.

She will be meeting with Seniors-Freshman classes once a month to work on post-high school and college planning.  Some of these class meetings-dates are already set, some are not.

Everton School Library would like to encourage all parents and community members to check out the school library.  It's not just for kids! Community members will be issued library cards to check out books.  We have a growing collection of books for all interests and ages!

"The Importance of Reading Aloud to Your Child": Children whose parents read to them tend to become better readers and perform better in school (Snow, Burns, and Griffin 1998). Other family activities such as telling stories and singing songs also encourage children's acquisition of literacy skills (Moss and Fawcett 1995)

Meetings are held on the first Monday night of the month at 7:00pm. (no meeting in January) Childcare is provided free of charge, and refreshments served.  Door prizes and the class with the most members in attendance receives a donation.
