Ryan Roe Benefit a Smashing Success

Although Saturday was a cold and snowy day, Everton’s gym was full of warm bodies of people with even warmer hearts.  The event included a chili supper, face painting by Darrell McNary, a pie auction, a raffle, and a basketball game.  The game was between the Everton Tiger Staff and the “Everton Sweeties,” a group of local men who donned women’s clothing to play.  The chili supper was well-received, as was the raffle.  The raffle included numerous prizes donated from local and regional businesses.  The pie auction was a success, with some pies selling for as much as sixty dollars!

The game was the highlight of the evening.  The Everton Tiger Staff included such ball players as Bobby “Break-A-Leg” Moore, Loretta “Go Getter” Cameron, Kim “Hard Ball” Gladden, “The Full” Monte Gladden, Jeff “The Ringer” Bryant, Cheryl “The real McCoy” Bryant, Heather “Hot Hands” Harden, Hope “I Don’t Make a Fool of Myself” Herd, and Mike “Bleazy” Blain.  The Everton Sweeties stole the show as they showcased such players as Tony “Chickadee” Sutton, Shawn “Kitty Cat” Holland, Matt “Strawberry Shortcake” Cobb, Greg “the Dark” Knight, Eric “Suzy Q” Steeley, Brandon “the Girly Man” Steeley, David “Honeybunch” Clabough, Todd “Hot Stuff” Wilson, Darryl “the Dandy” Knackstedt,  Justin “Potpie” Kenney, Alvin “the Chipmunk” Beasley, Ray “Look Like A Lady” Kile, Michelle Wilson and Kristen Limpus known as “Secret Weapon:  Double Trouble”, and captain, Michael “Wild Thing” Douty.  The audience had the opportunity to vote for the Queen of the Sweeties.  At a quarter a vote, Michael “Wild Thing” Douty took home the crown by raising almost two hundred dollars.

We would like to thank everyone who came and helped support Ryan and his family.  Ryan was scheduled to be moved to the rehabilitation facility in Kansas City on Monday, March 2nd.  Jim and Nita and all the family sends their gratitude and their love to everyone who has offered prayers and help during this time of need.
