Ryan Roe Benefit a Smashing Success
Although Saturday was a cold and snowy day, Evertonâs gym was full of warm bodies of people with even warmer hearts. The event included a chili supper, face painting by Darrell McNary, a pie auction, a raffle, and a basketball game. The game was between the Everton Tiger Staff and the âEverton Sweeties,â a group of local men who donned womenâs clothing to play. The chili supper was well-received, as was the raffle. The raffle included numerous prizes donated from local and regional businesses. The pie auction was a success, with some pies selling for as much as sixty dollars!
The game was the highlight of the evening. The Everton Tiger Staff included such ball players as Bobby âBreak-A-Legâ Moore, Loretta âGo Getterâ Cameron, Kim âHard Ballâ Gladden, âThe Fullâ Monte Gladden, Jeff âThe Ringerâ Bryant, Cheryl âThe real McCoyâ Bryant, Heather âHot Handsâ Harden, Hope âI Donât Make a Fool of Myselfâ Herd, and Mike âBleazyâ Blain. The Everton Sweeties stole the show as they showcased such players as Tony âChickadeeâ Sutton, Shawn âKitty Catâ Holland, Matt âStrawberry Shortcakeâ Cobb, Greg âthe Darkâ Knight, Eric âSuzy Qâ Steeley, Brandon âthe Girly Manâ Steeley, David âHoneybunchâ Clabough, Todd âHot Stuffâ Wilson, Darryl âthe Dandyâ Knackstedt, Justin âPotpieâ Kenney, Alvin âthe Chipmunkâ Beasley, Ray âLook Like A Ladyâ Kile, Michelle Wilson and Kristen Limpus known as âSecret Weapon: Double Troubleâ, and captain, Michael âWild Thingâ Douty. The audience had the opportunity to vote for the Queen of the Sweeties. At a quarter a vote, Michael âWild Thingâ Douty took home the crown by raising almost two hundred dollars.
We would like to thank everyone who came and helped support Ryan and his family. Ryan was scheduled to be moved to the rehabilitation facility in Kansas City on Monday, March 2nd. Jim and Nita and all the family sends their gratitude and their love to everyone who has offered prayers and help during this time of need.
