From the Superintendent's Desk

December 18, 2007

Greetings!  It is a good time to be part of the Everton R-3 family.  We look forward to coming to work every morning.  ‘Tis a great staff I work with and a great group of students!

We have a lot to brag about right now with our big little school.  Brett Gladden’s eighth place finish in the National FBLA competition;  Danny Giddings trip to Washing-ton DC;  our athletic teams have been very competitive -- our boys finished second in a very tough Humansville Invitational Tournament; our student council (lead by Danny Gidding’s efforts) bringing state and national recognition to our school with their relief efforts for Darfur; the student council taking part in a phone conference with the Undersecretary of State in Washington DC that included two other schools -- one from Boston and one from Laguna Beach, California; Jesse Shanks winning the Personal Finance category at the Mark Twain Conference Business competition.

With the blessing of grant money, we have kept our technology level high.  We are in our second year of having “smart boards” and projectors mounted in all of our elementary classrooms and some of our high school classrooms.  The teachers use them every day.  We have replaced old computers with 85 new units in the past three years.  Our library card catalogue system is now automated and online.  We have an “iclass” or a camera class through Missouri State University where our students and the professor at MSU see and interact with each other.  Our school website (up and going for three years now) is getting more polished every day.  Find it at www.evertontigers.org.

Winter is here again, with apprehensive memories as ice once again built up.  I have more limbs down at my house to saw.  We missed Monday, Dec. 10 because of the ice and will have to make the day up.  For now, plan for school to be in session on Martin Luther King Day.

The old cowboy in me sure enjoyed the PTSO carnival this year.  The Booster Club Fish Fry and the FFA Trap Shoot the next day were also successful.  What a parade of costumes we had on Halloween!  Our Veteran's Day assembly was once again outstanding.

Thank you once again for trusting us to work with your children.  Thank you for giving them the love and care that they need.  I wish you a most blessed holiday season and an “outstanding” new year!

Merry Christmas!

Chuck Adams, Superintendent
